WFIP2 Lidar data

The second Wind Forecast Improvement Project (WFIP2) is a Department of Energy and NOAA sponsored effort to improve short-term weather forecast models and increase understanding of physical processes such as stability, turbulence, and low-level jet that affect wind energy generation in regions of complex terrain. An 18 month field deployment in the Pacific Northwest focuses on the Columbia River Basin in eastern Oregon and Washington states, with instrument deployment occurring in the autumn of 2015. CSD installs two scanning Doppler wind lidars (Dalek 1 and Dalek 2) in the Columbia River Basin in the autumn of 2015 to study atmospheric dynamics in complex terrain. A third instrument (HALO Photonics) deploys in the winter of 2015 for shorter-term case studies.
