Daily Summary:

Tuesday, July 19: CABOTS IOP2
Day 2 of CABOTS IOP 2 observations. TOPAZ data were taken from 10:50 to 21:54 PDT. High of about 35 C with weak winds. Clear all day with poor visibility in the morning (the Sierra's were nearly invisible), but better in the afternoon. Some similarities to yesterday with higher ozone and aerosol above the boundary layer in the morning. The BL grew to about 1 km, possibly entraining some of this ozone and aerosol. This is consistent with surface ozone, which was much higher than on the previous day and increased from about 55 to 60 ppbv around 1600 PDT when the CBL converged with (but did not mix out) the aerosol layer aloft. More ozone layering is evident at higher altitudes as well.
