Sunday, August 7: CABOTS IOP2
Day 21 of CABOTS IOP 2 observations. TOPAZ data were taken from 09:24 to 17:32 PDT. Offical high of 34C (94F) at the airport met tower. Hazy, Sierra Foothills were barely visible. South/southeasterly surface winds in the morning, veering to the west/southwest around mid-day. Surface ozone increased thru early afternoon, plateaued between 1300 and 1500 PDT at around 55 ppbv*, and then decreased slowly. The BL grew to about 700 m AGL by early afternoon. Moderately high ozone (70-75 ppbv) in the polluted smoke layer above the BL and several somewhat diffuse layers containing up to 65 ppbv of ozone between 2.5 and 6 km AGL were observed by TOPAZ.
