The RECAP-CA (Re-Evaluating the Chemistry of Air Pollutants in California) and SUNVEx (Southwest Urban NOx and VOC Experiment) workshop will bring together researchers and stakeholders from the different field activities that occurred during spring/summer 2021 throughout California's South Coast Air Basin and Clark County, Nevada. Field measurements were conducted at multiple ground sites and aboard mobile platforms, including instrumented aircraft and vans. The data collected will be used to understand local emission sources, atmospheric chemistry, and local/regional air quality issues in the greater Los Angeles and Las Vegas regions.

Objectives:

  • Provide a platform to discuss the preliminary results of field measurements and modeling efforts utilizing data relevant to the RECAP-CA and SUNVEx science goals
  • Increase scientific collaboration across the different campaigns, measurement platforms, and between researchers collecting the measurements and those using the measurements for model and/or satellite evaluation
  • Increase collaboration between researchers and environmental managers/stakeholders

The RECAP-CA and SUNVEx workshop will be a hybrid meeting, held at NOAA's David Skaggs Research Center (DSRC) in Boulder, Colorado. Registrants are encouraged to attend in person, but there is also a virtual component. The virtual component will allow participants to give presentations, listen to all discussions including the breakout sessions, and ask questions through a chat application like Slido.
