Daily Summary:

Friday, June 10: CABOTS IOP1
Day 13 of CABOTS IOP 1 observations. TOPAZ data were taken from 13:12 - 04:24 PDT. The cooling trend continued with a high of 32C and widespread alto cirrus and contrail cirrus above 6 km agl for most of the day. The ozone and aerosol lidar observations were similar to the previous two days, but with an elevated ozone layer at 4 km. Another interesting layer with both high ozone and aerosol backscatter appeared in the night near 1800 m agl and persisted for several hours. The boundary layer (BL) remained shallow between 400 and 600 m all afternoon with higher ozone and aerosol layers between the top of the BL and 2 km agl. BL ozone was low in the morning, but slowly increased to a maximum of about 65-70 ppbv in the late afternoon. Surface ozone reached about 60 ppbv in the late afternoon.
