Daily Weather Summary

June 21, 1999:

High pressure well to our north dominating eastern US weather today. Water vapor satellite image indicates subsidence aloft, which may help put a cap on cloud growth today. Light winds from the surface to 850 mb this morning, however profilers show 15-20 kt northeasterly winds above ~2200 m MSL due to an upper level low in Georgia (700 mb). June 22, 1999:

Tuesday will be warmer and more moist in Nashville, with a 20% chance of isolated afternoon thundershowers. 850 mb winds will be easterly veering to southerly through the day, 5-10 kts. High: 90. Low: 68.

Day after Tomorrow Forecast

June 23, 1999:

Winds from the surface to 850 will be southerly, 5-10 kts. This southerly flow will be advecting moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. High: upper 80's Low: near 70. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms.

Outlook

June 24 - 26, 1999:

With much higher moisture in the region, and a strong 500 mb shortwave trough approaching, chances for showers and thunderstorms look fairly good on Thursday. The MRF model closes this 500 mb low off over the Southeastern US into the weekend, which could mean several days of rain/tstorms here, but this may not occur, so Friday and Saturday look questionable at this time. Stay tuned. Lows: near 70. Highs: 82 to 88.
