Abstract

John Thompson (State Department) and Cindy Newberg (EPA) are in Boulder to talk to people here about how they use science in their negotiations on behalf of the United States. Both John and Cindy are key US negotiators for the Montreal Protocol and John also is involved in climate negotiations (including black carbon issues). They will present an Open Forum / Moderated Discussion where they will talk for approximately 15 minutes each on how science is used in their decision-making, followed by an hour of Q & A.

3:15pm: Following the open forum will be a special "brief discussions" opportunity for graduate students and post-docs to hear what it is like to work in Decision Support jobs with the State Dept or EPA. All grad students, post-docs and others are welcome and encouraged to attend.
