Principle of the Measurement

FTIR sampling technique that measures the diffuse reflectance produced by the rough surface of powder/solid samples. The diffuse reflectance is collected by ellipsoid mirrors which reject the collection of specularly reflected radiation.

Technical Specifications

Species Measured: Calcium minerals/powdered solids
Detectors: liquid nitrogen cooled MCT and DTGS 400-4000 cm-1
Accessories: CHC low temperature reaction chamber
Temperature range of CHC: -150 - 600 C
Pressure range of CHC: high vacuum (133 Pa or 10-6 Torr) to 133 kPa (1000 Torr)

Applications

Infrared absorption spectra of powdered solids and chemical transformations of calcium carbonate at stratospherically relevant conditions.
