My research focuses on the in situ measurements of aerosol optical properties. I use cavity ringdown spectroscopy to measure aerosol extinction and photoacoustic spectroscopy to measure aerosol absorption, typically from airborne platforms such as the NOAA WP-3D and NASA DC-8 aircraft. I use these measurements to determine the microphysical aerosol properties and estimate the aerosol radiative effect.
