Daily Summary:

May 27. Monday. Clear and calm in early morning. Some haze in the valley. High clouds by late morning with occasional low clouds in the afternoon (2.3 km AGL). Lidar data was collected from 1100 to 1700 PDT. The preliminary TOPAZ curtain plot shows a layer of stratospheric O3 (~100 ppbv) above 2 km in good agreement with the WRF-Chem forecast. This layer faded as the day wore on and did not affect the surface concentrations at Angel Peak. Ozone did increase from below at midday as the boundary layer deepened and an upslope flow formed; the in situ measurements increased from 50/118 ppbv at 1018 PDT to 60/127 ppbv at 1318 PDT where they remained through the end of the run.
Note: the low (purple) ozone values seen near the top of the curtain plot near midday are biased by the solar background in these preliminary analyses.
