Boulder Atmospheric Observatory (BAO), Erie, CO 40.0500°N, 105.0039°W
Various instruments making ground-based measurements at the site of the tower.
Investigators in this project include researchers from NOAA ESRL Chemical Sciences Division, and the University of Colorado.
Science Goals
- Characterize the gas-phase composition of the ambient air in the vicinity of oil and natural gas production in Wattenberg Field of the Denver-Julesburg Basin during the summertime.
- Compare the ambient air composition to previous measurements conducted at the same site in winter 2011.
- Examine the effects of photochemical processing of the primary VOC emissions from oil and natural gas operations as well as nearby urban sources and naturally occurring biogenic emissions.
